Those of us who make presets are almost always photographers, too, and we know what it’s like to be on the other side of the transaction. However, there is a way to get quality Lightroom presets for free. It’s up to you how much you want to invest in presets, but keep in mind that you typically get what you pay for, and someone who sells all of their presets extremely cheap probably isn’t putting a ton of effort into them (unless they’re severely undervaluing their time). Preset packs can cost as little as $10 or more than $100, depending on the number and quality of the presets in the pack. It makes sense when you think about it: other photography tools usually aren’t free, either, and it can take a lot of work to create a really good preset. Most of the time, Lightroom presets aren’t free. Playing with Lightroom presets that are inexpensive or even free can be a great way to start you’ll be able to get a feel for what kind of presets you like to use, and if you find the right free presets, you’ll also be adding a great new tool to your belt. That said, buying presets and preset collections can feel like a big commitment, especially when you’re just getting the hang of things. They’re a quick and straightforward way to make big edits across entire batches of photos, they allow you to easily try on many different looks, and they help you to establish your brand with a personalized look. Presets are an important part of any photographer’s toolkit.
